Next Solo Adventure!
With my first solo trip under my belt its on to the next solo adventure. While my trip to Charlotte, North Carolina was only for a week, my next adventure will take me to the West Coast of the USA, on a trip that will last 3 weeks! This will be my first trip to the west coast and therefore all the cities will be brand new to me. This adventure will be combining my two loves; one: ZOOS (for those of you who only read this travel blog I am also known as Lady of the Zoos and have a blog dedicated to my visits to zoos and aquariums around the world – as well as other cool stuff) and number two: TRAVEL!
I will be traveling up the west coast visiting some of the best zoos and aquariums in the country as well as checking out the sites and sounds of the cities their home to. My first stop will be San Diego, of course home to two World famous zoos, the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Wildlife Park. My next stop will be to Santa Barbara to visit Victoria of ‘Postcards from Travel PiZazz’ – a fellow travel blogger and lover of all things Italian. Next stop is one I’ve been excited to visit for a long time and for many reasons, its San Francisco. I’m excited to visit the famous Pier 39, ride the cable car, trek up the cities hilly roads and I hope (fingers crossed) take a day trip out to Yosemite National park.
How will I be getting from city to city you ask? At first I thought I’ll just hop on a Greyhound, friends suggested renting a car for the freedom to relish the coastal drive at my pace, but then I thought of the train – Amtrak. To me one of the best ways to travel is by train, the people you meet, the hum of the train as it rocks you to sleep and of course the scenery. So, I’ll be traveling via Amtrak along the scenic coast of California and on to my next two destinations.
A good friend of mine told me I must visit Portland, Oregon, that I’d love the city with its charm and beautiful natural scenery. And it made its way on my tour! My last stop will be in Seattle, Washington, and not for what I’m sure many of my friends will think is my love for Starbucks. Yes, I admit, this Canadian gal is not a Timmy’s fan, I’m a Starbucks girl all the way! I’ve wanted to go to Seattle for years now, ever since one of my college professors spoke of the Woodland Park Zoo and showed us pictures. With its wide, natural habitats and great reputation I had to see and experience for myself.
I’m glad to say after my last travels I didn’t have time to get the post travel blues because I’ve been too busy researching and planning this next big adventure. So, for the next three, cold, Canadian winter months I’ll be dreaming of California sunshine and my next solo adventure!
If you have been to any of the 5 cities I’ve mentioned let me know what your favourite thing to do there is!
