About Me

The World As I See It….a travel blog

the world as i see itThe World As I See It explores my own backyard with Ontario’s gems to distant far off cities. In search of charming places, wild spaces, indulging in cafes and bookshops, and the small details – to find fun, fulfillment and a story along the way!  I relish in what makes a place draw you in, its history and its natural beauty as well as the journey it takes to get you there.

I still recall taking road trips with family down to Florida as a child and always remember enjoying the journey, not just the destination. From driving along old dirt roads, lined with giant weeping willow trees towards an old plantation house in Georgia to enjoying a day at Seaworld where I had the chance at a touching experience with a bottle-nosed dolphin, I always seemed to feel at home on the road.

As of now I’ve travelled a quite a bit more; throughout the UK and Europe, through the United States, as well as Cuba and Mexico.  And have delved into solo travel, which really changed my life! I seem to thrive off of all aspects of travel, from deciding where to go next, the planning, getting there, getting lost and then realizing you’ve not only found what you’re looking for, but you’ve found yourself! And all with a full-time job. Proving that with limited funds, and a job, you too can travel. You just need to make it a priority.

I’m working on exploring more of my own backyard of beautiful Ontario. From small towns full of charm to incredible landscapes that include waterfalls and epic views, Ontario if full of wonder. And my passion to hike is ever increasing with Ontario’s fantastic trails.

I started this blog to share my adventures, my photos and my thoughts and feelings on The World As I See It. And hopefully inspire others to travel and explore the wonders beyond their door.  If there is one thing I’ve come to realize it is that life is short and precious, live it to the fullest and enjoy the ride!

I’ve had the opportunity to attend TBEX here in Toronto, work with various tourism boards and brands, contributed to Huffington Post and am a contributing writer for The Budget-Minded Traveler. This blog has helped me discover a wealth of passions, from travelling to hiking, and of course writing. But I hope it inspires you to find your passion in life too!

That’s a pretty good photo of stonehenge. I only saw it from outside the fence earlier this year.

My name is KC Owens, I’m a college student and I love to travel! While cruising the Internet, I found your site and really enjoyed reading your posts. I have been to countries all over Europe with just my backpack and a camera. Since I am a college student and I have significant bills, it can be difficult to find ways to travel the world. However, I have done this several times, with less than ten pounds of luggage and while on a college dime!

I was hoping that you would allow me to write a post for your site to share my tips and tricks with your readers. I put a lot of time into my traveling, it is my biggest passion and I would love to inspire others by sharing my stories, mistakes and triumphs. I look forward to hearing from you!

Travel is wonderful thing. Another great thing is to share one’s experiences. You wrote: “throughout Europe”. Does it mean that You have visited in Finland also? The real Finland is outside of Helsinki, the capital.
