Who’s the Lady behind The World As I See It?

Hi, I’m Stephanie, the lady behind The World As I See It travel blog. I’m a passionate explorer, writer and devoted advocate for supporting local.

Over 40 years ago I was born and spent part of my childhood in Toronto. Then my family moved to Simcoe County, where I’ve spent most of teenage and adult life.

I still have Toronto in my DNA and visit often. But I also love exploring my own backyard of Simcoe County, including my adopted city of Barrie. Plus, living so close to Muskoka, has helped me extensively explore the Muskoka region too.

Since childhood I’ve had a diverse range of interests. Growing up I wanted to be everything from a dancer to a wildlife researcher. I’m sure it was my mix of city life and rural family adventures that helped me develop both passions for the arts and outdoors. Summers spent at my grandparent’s cottage in Haliburton nurtured my love for the great outdoors and wildlife, setting the stage for a lifelong passion.

The roots of my travel bug trace back to family excursions across Ontario, from Ottawa to Belleville to Sault Ste. Marie, and memorable road trips across the United States. While my explorations have taken me to nearly two dozen European countries and various U.S. cities, it’s Ontario that holds a special place in my heart. Committed to covering every inch of this incredible province, I aim to reveal the world nestled in my own backyard through this travel blog.

I’m also a freelance writer. My work has been featured in various publications, both online and in print, including Trans Canada Trail and York Durham Headwaters. As proud member of the Travel Media Association of Canada, I am committed to sharing stories that resonate and inspire.

About The World As I See It – travel blog

At The World As I See It, I hope to transport you to various places around the world and inspire you to travel. My travel style is all about showcasing the best a place has to offer, finding unique experiences, and showing that there’s magic in every destination.

This blog shines a spotlight on the treasures of Ontario, promoting the idea that extraordinary experiences can be found in your own backyard. From European vibes to breathtaking landscapes, Ontario has it all. The emphasis here is on cozy small town travel, scenic hikes, and uncovering hidden gems. Expect to also encounter a vibrant blend of the arts, from street art to theater.

While the focus is on Ontario, my extensive travels across Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States infuse the content with a broader perspective. Themes of outdoor exploration, artistic pursuits, and uncovering hidden gems permeate all my travel inspiration and itineraries.

Integral to my journey is a deep appreciation for local businesses. Whether sipping freshly brewed coffee in a family-run café or exploring artisan markets, I am passionate about highlighting and inspiring support for local enterprises. Recognizing the vital role small businesses play in shaping the character of a place, I showcase charming cafes, artisanal boutiques, and the entrepreneurs who make each destination unique.

That’s a pretty good photo of stonehenge. I only saw it from outside the fence earlier this year.

    Hi,

My name is KC Owens, I’m a college student and I love to travel! While cruising the Internet, I found your site and really enjoyed reading your posts. I have been to countries all over Europe with just my backpack and a camera. Since I am a college student and I have significant bills, it can be difficult to find ways to travel the world. However, I have done this several times, with less than ten pounds of luggage and while on a college dime!

I was hoping that you would allow me to write a post for your site to share my tips and tricks with your readers. I put a lot of time into my traveling, it is my biggest passion and I would love to inspire others by sharing my stories, mistakes and triumphs. I look forward to hearing from you!

    Best,

    KC Owens

Travel is wonderful thing. Another great thing is to share one’s experiences. You wrote: “throughout Europe”. Does it mean that You have visited in Finland also? The real Finland is outside of Helsinki, the capital.
