Hotel Acadia – Where Historic Meets Modern Style in Quebec City
My train from Montreal pulled into Gare du Palais around noon. Exiting the train station I was met by brilliant blue skies, 20 degree Celsius heat, and a city that I immediately fell in love with. Old stone buildings, a city not only perched atop a cliff but wrapped around it, and an air of European charm.
During my visit to Quebec City I would be attending the Women in Travel Summit that would be taking place at the Chateau Frontenac. So, I wanted to ensure I was not only centrally located, but also close to the Frontenac. And after a quick search I’d narrowed down where I wanted to stay – the Hotel Acadia.

And after a 10 minute walk from the train station, up some incredibly steep hills – with luggage in tow I might add, I was thrilled to find the Hotel Acadia on a charming street, full of stone buildings, classic Parisian awnings with pops of colour, and Quebec flags proudly waving.

Hotel Acadia
The Hotel Acadia is under the wing of a family-owned hotel chain called Nouvelle-France Hotels. The chain includes the Hotel Acadia’s 3 pavilions (Main, Ermitage, and Louisbourg) and Grande Allee Hotel & Suites. The Main and Ermitage Pavilions are located across from each other on Rue Sainte-Ursule, while the other is around the corner. All of the Nouvelle-France Hotels’ rooms and studios are located in the heart of Old Quebec City. Making it an ideal location.
Housed in 19th-century homes, the Hotel Acadia offers a fine mix of modern style and comfort with historic charm. Room options range from classic rooms that are great for couples to superior rooms, and there are also studios available to rent for longer stays.
Amenities
There are a wealth of amenities available to you during your stay at the Hotel Acadia. On top of being centrally located, many rooms have fireplaces – great for cold Canadian winters, as well as whirlpool baths to ease your tired muscles from exploring Quebec City all day. Parking is also available, which can be hard to find in Old Quebec.
The hotel also offers some pretty incredible amenities that might surprise you. There is an Urban Spa with massage therapy rooms and an outdoor spa on the rooftop. The rooftop terrace is a great place to relax and unwind but also offers views over Quebec City!

My Stay
Walking into the lobby of the Hotel Acadia I was immediately greeted by the staff. This warm, welcoming space was full of brochures on what to do and see during your stay in Quebec City. Plus there was a coffee maker and water cooler to refresh me after my hot and hilly walk from the train station with my luggage. And the best part – I found out my room had been upgraded.
Check-in was fast and efficient and the porter grabbed my suitcase and said this way with a sweet smile. We walked across the street to where I would be staying in one of their suites. As soon as I walked in I was grinning from ear to ear. There was a wonderful blend of historic charm, with the exposed brick and stone walls, and modern style with dark wood finishes, a large bed, and even a kitchenette.

The room had everything I needed for a great stay. There was a perfect sized desk in the corner for writing, a full-sized closet for hanging my clothes, an adorable pink tiled bathroom with fresh towels, toiletries, shelves to put my accessories on, and even a large flat screen TV to watch while I unwind at the end of the day. Other attributes of the suite I appreciated was the full-length mirror, reading light beside the bed, and the use of the full kitchenette to help save on food costs while travelling. The kitchenette had a stove, sink, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and dishes.
I also loved the option for green service. As hotels can easily add to the waste of water resources and other environmental issues, Hotel Acadia has this in mind. They offer fair trade coffee and recycling bins in the lobby. All of their toiletries are biodegradable. And they give you the option to help save thousands of gallons of water and laundry detergent. You can choose to reuse your towels by hanging them on the towel rack. And by not placing their change sheets sign on your pillow you can ensure you’re doing your part to help the environment.
And of course, the two main reasons to love a room – cleanliness and comfort! Hotel Acadia is on point for both. The entire room, bathroom, bed, kitchenette, was clean. As for the bed, oh, the bed was lush, with crisp clean white sheets, and a warm duvet that made it easy to melt into every night. The bed was soft but firm and had the perfect amount of pillows to settle into and curl up with. The only bad thing about that bed – was having to get out of it in the morning!

And the number one thing I look for when choosing an accommodation is LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! With Hotel Acadia I couldn’t have asked for a better location. I was honestly no more than a 15 minute walk away from all the top sites in Quebec City, like the Dufferin Terrace, Chateau Frontenac, Rue du Petit Champlain, Plains of Abraham, and so much more, many within 5 minutes. Restaurants and cafes were all around. Saint Louis Gate was literally around the corner.
Recommendation?
I would absolutely recommend staying at the Hotel Acadia and partners during your visit to Quebec City. It’s clean, comfortable, stylish, full of amenities, is a green option, and has a stellar location. While it is not a budget-friendly option, it is still an affordable option compared to other hotels in the area, especially with all that it has to offer.
