About Me

Hey there, fellow adventurer! I’m Stephanie, the explorer behind The World As I See It travel blog, where I share my passion for cozy travel, small towns, and hidden gems across Canada—especially in my home province of Ontario. From charming main streets lined with local shops to off-the-beaten-path wonders, I believe the best travel experiences come from uncovering the places most people overlook and going being the popular for a more sustainable travel approach.

Who’s the Lady behind The World As I See It?

Just call me the Indiana Jones of Ontario, uncovering treasures one trip at a time! Whether it’s discovering haunted spots (yes, you might have seen me sharing some on Breakfast Television), hiking scenic trails, browsing farmers’ markets or sipping my way through small-town coffee shops, I’m always on the hunt for my next great find.

Integral to my journey is a deep appreciation for local businesses. Whether sipping freshly brewed coffee in a family-run café or exploring artisan markets, I am passionate about highlighting and inspiring support for local enterprises. Recognizing the vital role small businesses play in shaping the character of a place, I showcase charming cafes, artisanal boutiques, and the entrepreneurs who make each destination unique.

Based in the Barrie area, I never have to go far to find a new adventure. Whether it’s exploring the backroads of Simcoe County, road-tripping through Prince Edward County, or chasing waterfalls in Muskoka, I’m always on the move—ready to bring you along for the ride.

Beyond the Blog

When I’m not out exploring, I’m running Ontario Hidden Gems—a thriving Facebook group and YouTube channel dedicated to showcasing the province’s most underrated destinations. With a love for storytelling and a knack for finding those must-visit spots, I’ve built a community that shares in my excitement for all things travel.

I’m also a freelance writer. My work has been featured in various publications, both online and in print, including Trans Canada Trail and York Durham Headwaters. As a proud member of the Travel Media Association of Canada, I am committed to sharing stories that resonate and inspire.
