Nestled at the foot of Ontario’s Blue Mountain is the perfect year round destination, Blue Mountain Village. Located 2 hours north of Toronto, the village is popular for skiing. But don’t let this deter you if you’re not a skier. There is a wealth of things to do in Blue Mountain Village all year long.
There’s something for everyone, from families to adventure seekers and foodies to outdoor nuts. Blue Mountain Village boasts a variety of events throughout the year too. And my favourite time to visit is during the holidays for it’s cheery festive vibes.
Whether you’re looking for fabulous things to do near Collingwood or a charming place to visit in Ontario, be sure to add Blue Mountain Village to your list.

Reasons to Visit Blue Mountain Village
Charm
There is something comforting and welcoming about Ontario small towns. And Blue Mountain Village is no different. It oozes charm. From its location at the foot of the Blue Mountains to the incredible turn of the century architecture, and cobblestone streets, it’s reminiscent of a quaint German village. Oh, and each building is full of colour making it pure Instagrammable!
And that charm is there all year long! During the sunny summer days, through the scenic fall, and under a blanket of pure white snow. My favourite time to visit is in the winter – it’s pure magical!
Great Shops
Looking for a little retail therapy? Take a wander around Blue Mountain Village and browse its great shops. You’ll find a mix of popular brand name retailers to locally owned shops. And there is something for everyone’s interests. A few favourites are; Georgian Christmas and The Olde Stanton Store.

Awesome Restaurants
Restaurants in Blue Mountain Village offer something for everyone’s palate and comfort. Whether you’re looking for fine dining, pub grub, or something different, there is a mix of places to eat in Blue Mountain.
There are over 20 different places to eat in Blue Mountain. If you’re looking for fun takeaway then head to Beaver Tails or Mile High Poutine. A few favourites are MJ Byrne’s Irish Pub, Camino Taco, and Firehall Pizza Co.

Enjoy Holiday Magic
During the holiday season at Blue Mountain Village you’ll be transported to a magical place with their Holiday Magic Trail. This 1 km trail takes you around the Village and surrounds you in festive lights. And it’s free!
You can enjoy this illuminated trail every day of the week through December and into the beginning of January. And on Saturday nights you can enjoy fireworks too, along with horse and wagon rides, Santa himself, and so much more! It’s one of the best light displays in Ontario!

Do the Apple Pie Trail
Calling all foodies! South Georgian Bay has a foodie trail you’ll love – the Apple Pie Trail. This is a perfect location for growing apples so it’s no surprise the award-winning Apple Pie Trail cropped up.
And there are a few stops to enjoy tasty treats in Blue Mountain Village. A few stops are Copper Blues Bar & Grill for Apple Tart Dessert, The Pottery Restaurant for apple cheesecake, and Rusty’s at Blue for Applewood Smoked BBQ. And you can enjoy this trail all year long.

Visit the Christmas Market
Ontario is home to some amazing Christmas Markets and craft shows. These are the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit and get some unique gifts.
At the Alpine Ski Club in the Blue Mountains, just minutes from the Village, is one that you should add to your list while visiting. The Southern Georgian Bay Christmas Market runs near the end of November.
You’ll find everything from Christmas crafts, delicious treats, fun and festive clothing and so much more! And the best part is many of the artisans and companies are local!

Visit Iwa Spa Blue Mountain
Blue Mountain Village is not all food, adventure, and fun. Blue Mountain is also home to the perfect place to relax, unwind, and restore – the Iwa Spa Blue Mountain. The Iwa Spa offers a variety of treatments, from the traditional facials and manicures to interesting massages, like the Thai Yoga Massage, and you can also try Ganban Volcanic Rock Therapy.
Do the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster
Adventure seekers will love Blue Mountain’s Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster. Speed down the 1 km long track along forest floor to up into the trees. You can go up to 42km/hour or ease back, as you are in control of the speed, to take in the awesome views. And the best part is you can enjoy it in the summer, during the fall, and in the winter too!

Go Snowshoeing
If you’re looking for winter activities at Blue Mountain other than skiing and snowboarding then consider snowshoeing. This is a fun way to enjoy the outdoors during the winter without hurling yourself down a hill. Blue Mountain Resort is home to 3 snowshoe trails.
Try the Skating loop
Head to the top of Blue Mountain for one of Ontario’s skate trails. This 1.1 km skating loop takes you through an enchanting winter wonderland and offers incredible views over the Niagara Escarpment. But the best part is you can enjoy a skate by day or at night as the trail is lit with tiki torches. Don’t worry if you don’t have skates, you can rent them.
