Mornington Rose breakfast

Every visit to Stratford, Ontario I rave about the out of this world food I’ve devoured. But I was blown away when that salivating food came straight out of a home oven at a Bed and Breakfast. Mornington Rose’s breakfast is a show-stopper! Coffee is served on the sideboard at 8am. But you’ll have to wait until 9am for the dynamite breakfast that’s served up.

Drinks range from coffee to an array of juices. Scones usually come out first, piping hot and I highly suggest you devour one before they’ve been snatched up. Murray makes the BEST scones I’ve ever had and is enough of a reason for me to return! Next up, you’ll enjoy a selection of fresh local fruit with Greek yogurt and granola. And don’t be afraid to pop the pretty flower that tops the dish as they are not only edible but quite tasty.

One thing I realized about the guests at Mornington Rose is that not only are they all fun and friendly but most are returning visitors. Everyone I spoke with there has been coming back again and again for years. Some were Americans, others fellow Canadians, but all were just as welcoming and friendly as the hosts. My Stay at Mornington Rose Bed & Breakfast

bedroom at Mornington Rose B&B in Stratford

There’s something to be said about the atmosphere of a good bed and breakfast. Where guests are at ease, conversations flow like the morning coffee, and when you rest your head down at night you almost feel right at home. And I guarantee you that no hotel will make you feel like that.

I loved my stay at the Mornington Rose Bed and Breakfast. I adored the hosts, Victoria and Murry, both were helpful, kind and made me feel right at home. The location was perfect, as it was only a 10 minute walk to downtown and the street was fully lit when walking back after an evening performance.

Our room, the Ivory Room, was a mix of creamy whites and soft browns, and two twin beds. The walls were adorned with original works of art, Peter Nixon’s three Greek Seasons and The Triumph of Venus by Csaba Markus. We even had a private en-suite bathroom that was bright and clean with plush towels. I think many people sway away from Bed and Breakfast as they think that you always have to share a bathroom. This is not always the case. Mornington Rose offers en-suite bathrooms for all of their rooms.

Another lovely touch was the private roof garden and balcony right off our room. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee. There’s also a cozy porch off the main entrance with large cushiony seating that’s ideal for relaxing with a good book, chatting with fellow guests or cuddling with the sweet resident cats.
