The Old Mill Manor offers a dreamy place to stay, a short drive from downtown Almonte. It has all of the charm that the town has to offer, from a storied past to character-filled rooms, that make if feel like you’ve booked a real-life Hallmark getaway in Ontario!
During my stay at the Old Mill Manor, I kept thinking is this real? Every room, every detail, is thoughtfully done. I felt like I was staying on a Hallmark movie set, thankfully without the cameras (except my own!) and crew. But this is one place you want to stay with your friends and family.

The Old Mill Manor
As I pulled up the drive, I could immediately feel the presence of this grand manor house.
Built in 1842, this Georgian stone manor was originally the home of Robert Teskey, an Irish immigrant. While its rich history can be seen in photographs and other details in the home, it has the modern touches you could want.
The Old Mill Manor is a short 10-minute drive south of downtown Almonte and 35 minutes west of Ottawa. It makes for a great family escape or memorable girls’ getaway. The manor features 6 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms with a powder room, 3 fireplaces, a large kitchen with coffee station, as well as dining and living rooms.
A huge highlight is the one-acre property that has a saltwater pool, hot tub, tiki bar, gardens and waterfront. Another bonus, for those travelling with their four-legged friends, the Old Mill Manor is pet friendly.

5 Reasons to Book the Old Mill Manor
Rooms with Character
Now more than ever, I, along with many other travellers are looking for more than a standard hotel room for trips. To me, travel is a full experience that should also include where you’re staying.
That’s why one of the reasons I loved staying at the Old Mill Manor was the rooms. Each, from the bedrooms to the bathrooms, were filled with character. The attention to detail, from fun fabrics covering tissue boxes to patterned wallpaper, is exceptional.
The room I choose to stay in gave me all the relaxing vibes, with its blue tones, large wood bed, and fireplace. I loved the wallpaper accents with cranes that paired perfectly with matching throw pillows
I dubbed it the ‘free as a bird room’, as it featured birds, has a private ensuite and has access out to the pool. It’s the ideal room for privacy if you’re staying with a larger group.
With 6 bedrooms to choose from, everyone is guaranteed to have a cool room. Another room I loved was the one I dubbed the ‘Tiffany’ room. It has a fourposter bed, with pale pink accents paired with Tiffany blue.
But the character filled rooms don’t stop at the bedroom door! Even the bathrooms have style. My favourite is the main floor powder room that has flamingo wallpaper and a swan faucet – I LOVED it!
A Pool & Hot Tub
If you’re looking for a vacation home in Almonte with a pool, this the best! The whole backyard at the Old Mill Manor feels like a playground for fun.
They have a heated saltwater pool that’s perfect for enjoying with friends or family. Surrounding the pool is a collection of loungers, as well as umbrellas for shade if you desire.
In the corner of the spacious patio is a hot tub, perfect for year-round relaxing. Plus, there’s a tiki bar set up if you want to have a spot for drinks, alcoholic or otherwise. Again, it adds to the fun on vacation vibe that the whole place offers.
There’s also a large table under an awning that’s perfect for outdoor dining. And a tiki bar with colourful seating and barbeque.
As darkness descends, the twinkle lights erupt across the backyard, adding another element of magical vibes. You can enjoy the backyard by day and night, the fun doesn’t stop.
Private Chef
A great add-on that is offered at the Old Mill Manor is catering by a private chef! One of the lovely owners, Gary, is a former general manager for a popular restaurant.
Whether you’re planning a celebration dinner, for a birthday or during the holidays, you can add on a private chef meal. If you’re staying with your girlfriends for a getaway, you can add on a high tea as well.
Meals can be served in the stunning dining room, on the front patio or pool side. Options include: turkey dinner, prime rib, fajitas and more.
Note: Meals must be arranged in advance, a minimum of 3 weeks before the date of dinner.
Room to Spread Out
The Old Mill Manor is the ideal place to stay in Almonte for those looking for family vacations, girls’ getaways or small retreats. I would love to host a retreat here for my writer’s group!
One reason is a great place to stay for those three getaway seekers, is because there’s plenty of room to spread out. Even with 5 to 10 other people sharing the manor with you, you can easily escape for some peace and quiet.
Along with the six different bedrooms, living room, and backyard there are plenty of places to relax or cozy up in. The front patio has a comfortable seating area overlooking the garden. There’s also a hammock down by the water, begging to calmly hang in.
One cute nook is on the second floor at the front of the manor. With a small antique seat. It screams, softly, to be sat in with a book.

The Old Mill Manor is an awesome place to book if you’re looking for a unique getaway. Some special occasions really come to life here.
If you’re looking for a dreamy Christmas escape with friends or family, the Old Mill Manor during the holidays will make you feel like you’re living in a Hallmark movie. The dressings for the manor start going up mid-November. It’s filled with Christmas trees, old world Santas, fairy lights, and wreaths. Plus, you can opt to add on a catered Christmas dinner or make your own.
