Best Restaurants in Picton for the Perfect Meal
You’ve decided to visit Prince Edward County and are looking for places to eat. Well, you’ll find plenty of options in Picton. While the region is known for its wine, what I love about the County is that many restaurants in Picton and beyond source ingredients from local farms.
Every time I visit Picton I’m always on the search to try new restaurants. I love that this small town has everything from farm to table fine dining to classic pubs as well as international cuisine. And nearly all utilizing farm fresh ingredients!
So, I’m sharing a list of my picks for the best places to eat in Picton including what to order.

The Royal Hotel
A landmark in downtown Picton, the Royal Hotel is also one of the best hotels in Prince Edward County. It’s a perfect place to stay in town as you can walk to all the shops and restaurants. Plus, it has a number of dining options within in the hotel.
You can start your morning with a coffee and fresh baked goods at their Counter Bar. But even if you aren’t staying, I highly recommend reserving a table for dinner at the Royal Hotel!
Walking through the lobby and to the back dining room you’ll smell the enticing smells drifting out of the kitchen. And there really isn’t a bad seat in the house.
The dining room is stunning but I equally loved eating on the terrace in the summer. On the terrace you’ll find cozy seating with classy marble table tops and twinkling lights overhead for a magical vibe.
My main draw for visiting was their farm to table menu. On the menu are a wide array of seasonal dishes, ranging from sharable plates like oysters to elevated mains that feature pasta, fish and steak.
I was blown away by their Cassarecce, which is a Sicilian pesto, pecorino pasta, eggplant dish. The eggplant was cooked to perfection (not too mushy) and with my first bite I could tell it was made with fresh handmade noodles.

SUJEO Korean Restaurant
Tucked down Elizabeth Street is a hidden gem of a restaurant–SUJEO Korean Restaurant. This small restaurant serves authentic Korean cuisine and is perfect for lunch or dinner.
After it opened a few years ago, it quickly won the hearts of locals. During my lunch visit, I saw a nearly endless flow of people coming in to grab take out and many chatted with the server, clearly regulars.
Even if you have to wait outside for a table, I promise it’s worth it! The menu has everything from dumplings to miso soup. But I loved the Bibimbap with beef, which I found was cooked to perfection.

Vic Social
A classic when it comes to downtown Picton restaurant is Vic Social. Originally known as the Vic Café, it has a slightly new name and some new features, but still maintains all the charm.
I love its retro vibes and the fact that the reimagined Vic has plenty of fun things to do beyond eating. If you’re looking for what to do in Picton on weekends, head to the Vic to hit the dance floor with music from the 80s and 90s.
However, if you’re visiting during the weekend, don’t worry they’ve got trivia nights and other fun events.
My favourite time to go is in the morning for one of the best breakfasts in town! I grew up eating tater tots and LOVE that instead of the traditional hashbrowns or potatoes, that the Vic has them as an option for a side at breakfast!
Other must try things off the menu include their epic Vic Burger that uses locally sourced beef and the Triple Pickle Pickerel for lunch or dinner.

The Waring House Restaurant
A few minutes’ drive from downtown and you’ll find the Waring House. This historic inn and restaurant is one of the best places to eat in Prince Edward County.
During my visit, it was a busy night, so I grabbed a seat at the bar in the Barley Room. The stone walls, fireplace, and live music made it feel like I’d stepped into a cozy pub in England—warm, welcoming, and full of character.
After a day of hiking, I was hungry and ordered the steak. It was cooked perfectly and packed with flavour, and I loved that they serve local cider to wash it down with. This is another place where the focus on local ingredients really shines, and they even have their own kitchen garden on-site.
Along with hearty pub fare, The Waring House also offers afternoon tea in their Amelia’s Garden dining room. It’s a beautiful spot overlooking the gardens, and the tea service includes Harney & Sons teas, finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and fresh baked goods.
Whether you’re in the mood for a casual pub night or a charming tea experience, The Waring House is a great spot to dine.

Bean Counter Cafe & Bakery
Along with being one of my favourite coffee shops in the County, the Bean Counter is great if you’re looking for cheap places to eat in Picton.
After 20 years, they are still a beloved lunch spot. They serve a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, and delicious pastries. A few house specialties that are perfect to eat inside or grab for a picnic are their jerk chicken wrap or the vegan falafel.
The Bean Counter also makes a great cup of coffee. Using locally roasted beans produced by County Roasters, every cup packs fresh flavour.

Coaches Pub and Grillhouse
With a tagline of ‘Good Beer, Good Food, Good Music’ you know you’re in for a good time at Coaches Pub! And upon entering, it gave me Cheers vibes!
After opening in 1991, this family owned and operated pub has been a beloved watering hole in town. You’ll find all the classic pub grub on the menu like wings, nachos and fish & chips. But I was surprised a few items like the Cajun Shrimp Po Boy and East Coast Lobster Roll.
I ordered one of their classic burgers and it was honestly one of the best I’ve had. Homemade and reminded me of my mother’s tasty burgers. Plus, my friend got the chicken fingers and I was please to learn that they make their own batter for them. I could resist a try and they were crispy and delicious!

Slickers County Ice Cream
After all the amazing meals in the County, you can’t skip dessert—and Slickers in Picton is the perfect stop. This charming ice cream shop makes small-batch ice cream daily using locally sourced ingredients, and you can really taste the difference.
I went for the Campfire flavour, and it was incredible—smoky, sweet, and totally unique. They’ve also got fun options like Marshmallow and Apple Pie. With locations in both Picton and Bloomfield, Slickers is a must-visit when you’re craving something sweet.
The Lighthouse Restaurant
If you’re looking for Picton waterfront restaurants, the Lighthouse Restaurant is a great pick—especially for breakfast. It’s tucked inside the Picton Harbour Inn and has won County Weekly News Readers’ Choice for favourite breakfast several years in a row.
This cozy, family-friendly spot serves all the classics. I recommend the eggs benedict or pancakes to start your day right. If you’re stopping by for lunch, you’ll find everything from burgers and wraps to chicken parmesan and crispy fish and chips.
The Lighthouse is fully licensed too, with local wines from the County’s top wineries like Huff Estates and Sandbanks, plus beers from Prince Eddy’s and Parson’s.
The Acoustic Grill
The Acoustic Grill, set inside the historic Master Feeds Building, has been a go-to spot in Picton for nearly 20 years. It’s all about great food, good vibes, and live acoustic music.
Their burgers rock, the live music is all acoustic—and the combo makes for a fun, laid-back night out. One of my favourite menu items is the Country Garden Burger, a delicious vegetarian option made with black beans and loaded with tasty toppings.
The menu is full of pub classics made with a twist, using fresh, local ingredients. Everything’s made in-house, from the juicy steak sandwich to the sweet potato loaded poutine. With band posters on the walls and nods to the building’s history, the Acoustic Grill is a cozy mix of country pub and rock-and-roll hangout you won’t want to miss.
