+10 Amazing Restaurants in Sudbury
Best known for being home to the big Nickel standing proud on a hillside over looking the city, Sudbury is a literal gem in Northern Ontario! It’s a must-visit destination for outdoor adventures and family friendly attractions, but did you know it has an epic food scene?
Sudbury has a diverse line up of cuisines, from classic Canadian fare to Indian -thanks to the rich cultures that call Sudbury home, and restaurant styles, from cozy to Instagramable. And after countless visits, where I always check out a few new to me places and old favourites, I’m serving up a list of the best restaurants in Sudbury for you.
In addition to the mix of restaurants, throughout the year there’s plenty of food festivals to check out too. Serving up everything from blueberries to Italian and Greek.
So, if you’re planning a trip and looking for the best places to eat in Sudbury, I’ve got you covered!

Tucos Taco Lounge
It’s always taco time at Tucos Taco Lounge! Tucked away in Sudbury’s Donovan neighbourhood, this spot serves up the best vegan eats in town—though you’d never guess it’s vegan. As a meat-lover, I can honestly say these are the best tacos I’ve ever had!
The vibe? Think spaghetti western meets hip hangout. The name nods to Tuco from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, but the menu is nothing but good. My top pick is the Texan Chili Tacos, but other must-try options are the epic nachos, burritos, or mac and cheese.
Tucos is a year-round fave. In winter, it gives off cozy, beachy vibes. In summer, their patio—complete with red umbrellas and fun cocktails—feels like a little slice of Mexico right in Sudbury.
Insider Tip: If you’re looking for a summer dessert after your meal–head across the street for an ice cream from Flurple’s. Just like Tucos, Flurple’s is vegan!

Laughing Buddha
Whether you’re craving amazing pizza, catching up over drinks, or planning a cozy date night, Laughing Buddha is the place to be. It’s one of my favourite restaurants in downtown Sudbury! Family-run since 2005, it still lives up to its promise of great pizza, unique beer, and a killer vibe.
The menu’s got something for everyone—creative pizzas (try the Llama Rama or Dill Pickle Za!), fresh Buddha bowls, sandwiches, and shareables, with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options too.
They’ve also got a solid lineup of local craft beer, scotch, and spirits from near and far—perfect for a fun night out. And don’t miss the patio! With twinkling lights and a real tree growing through the deck, it’s one of the coolest spots to hang out in the summer.

Deluxe Hamburgers
A staple for over 50 years, Deluxe Hamburgers is one of the most popular restaurants on Regent Street in Sudbury! And for good reason!
Originally a 1960s car-hop, Deluxe still keeps things old-school with drive-thru service and classic diner vibes inside. Their cheeseburgers are a must, but the real star? The fries—especially when paired with their one-of-a-kind sauce. It’s called a BBQ sauce, but trust me, it’s on another level. I have to swing by for some, every time I’m in the city!
Budget-friendly and full of flavour, Deluxe also serves up chicken, breakfast, milkshakes, and more. Locals love it, tourists seek it out, and yes—it even sits right across from that other place with two arches.
Fun Fact: Deluxe Hamburgers opened in 1967, before Ontario’s first McDonald’s.

M.I.C. Canadian Eatery
If you’re looking for a true taste of Canada, M.I.C. Canadian Eatery & Whiskey Pub is the place to go. One of the best restaurants in Sudbury, M.I.C.—short for Made in Canada—proudly serves up local flavours, from Ontario beef and AAA steaks to Canadian beer and wine.
The vibe is full-on Canadiana, with cozy log cabin walls, hockey sticks, Canadian music, and iconic photos everywhere you look. It’s warm, welcoming, and totally patriotic.
Their menu is packed with Canadian classics—think Calgary Stampede Dip, Canadian Bacon Mac & Cheese, and P.E.I. mussels. I personally loved the M.I.C. Signature Crispy Wings and the burger topped with a little Canadian flag (nice touch!).
And if you’re into whisky, this is your spot. They’ve got over 80 Canadian varieties—so go ahead and treat yourself to a flight of the country’s finest.

The Daventry Kitchen & Bar
One of my favourite places to eat in Sudbury is Daventry Kitchen & Bar! This Regent Street pub serves up all the classic pub grub, many with an elevated twist.
Sourcing local ingredients, you’ll find fab and fresh flavours in every bite! You’ll find everything from fish and chips to pasta on the menu. A couple of my favourites are the cauliflower wings and the Dav Burger. Plus, I love that you can get fries or tater tots as your side!
Like any fun pub, the Daventry hosts a number of events including weekly trivia nights and live music on the weeks.
In the winter, their patio transforms into a wonderland of dinning! Featuring one of the best igloo dining experiences in Ontario.

BENi Breakfast and Lunch
When it comes to the best breakfast in Sudbury, I vote for BENi!! This adorable brunch spot feels like a little ray of sunshine as soon as you enter. With cozy booths, accents of soft green and a fun neon sign reading Rise & Shine – it’s the perfect place to fuel up for a day of exploring.
Best known for their creative list of Eggs Benedict, the menu has everything from Shashuka to chicken and waffles. I love their Crème Brûlée French Toast – topped with fruit compote and a flower. I also recommend ordering a mug of their bone broth.
Using fresh and local ingredients, they use maple syrup from a nearby farm and Toronto’s Reunion Coffee.
Tucked at the back is Anna–Laura Pâtisserie. This incredible bakery makes some of the best donuts and pastries in the city! Be sure to grab a few for the road home.

Verdicchio Ristorante
Verdicchio Ristorante is hands down one of the best fancy restaurants in Sudbury. For 30 years, they’ve embraced the Slow Food movement, crafting incredible Italian dishes using fresh, local ingredients—many sourced from right here in Northern Ontario.
Their menu is a beautiful mix of tapas-style plates, risotto, and mains like Alberta AAA beef tenderloin and pasta with locally grown mushrooms. I tried the quail from Nipissing Farms with farroto and a balsamic slaw—absolutely unforgettable.
Wine lovers will be in heaven here. Verdicchio has an award-winning all-Italian wine cellar, and you can enjoy a tasting at the wine bar or sip your pick with dinner. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between classy and cozy, and the patio is a great bonus when the weather is nice.

Di Gusto Wood Fired Pizza
If you’re craving authentic Italian, Di Gusto Wood Fired Pizza, Fresh Pasta & Wine Bar is a must-visit. It’s warm, welcoming, and perfect for dinner with friends, family, or a special night out.
Their wood-fired pizza is the star of the show—hand-kneaded dough made with Italian flour, baked to thin-crust perfection in a custom oven you can see from your seat. The hardest part? Choosing just one! I recommend the Hot Honey Pizza for a sweet and spicy kick.
Their fresh-made pasta is just as good. I loved the Penne al Pollo e Pesto—packed with flavour from roasted red peppers, grilled chicken, and homemade pesto.
Appetizers are also a win, especially the artichoke and spinach dip, baked right in the pizza oven. And don’t skip the Charity Bread—fresh, soft, and only $2 per person, with proceeds going to local causes. Great food with heart? Yes, please!

Regency Bakery & Deli
Created by an Italian baker over 40 years ago, Regency is one of the best bakeries in Sudbury.
Inside you’ll find everything you need to make a great meal, from over 70 different types of cheese to top quality imports from Italy. They sell the perfect blend of local items as well as food they craft themselves, like their fresh made pasta.
But I recommend visiting for one of the best lunch meals in Sudbury – a porchetta sandwich! Grab a fresh bun from the bakery, then head over to the deli counter to get them to craft one of the best porchetta sandwiches in Sudbury!
While they don’t have a typical dining room, there is a few bar stools set up along the window to sit and enjoy your sandwich.

Bonn to Bake
Another must try downtown restaurant is Bonn to Bake. It’s the ideal spot if you’re craving Indian food.
The menu at Bonn to Bake is diverse, there’s everything from pizza to pasta. But their best known for their flavourful Indian dishes, with local favourites being the Noodle Burger and Chana Kulcha. I loved the Butter Chicken!
I also love the cool vibe inside. With royal blue walls, plush seats, and a neon pink set of wings on the wall–it’s totally Instagram-worthy!
Plus, if you’re in the mood for something sweet or looking for a treat for a special occasion, Bonn to Bake makes tasty desserts and epic cakes!

BONUS: Taste of Sudbury
If you’re looking for a unique way to eat your way through the city, then I recommend grabbing tickets to Taste of Sudbury. This annual event takes place every January and is the perfect excuse to book a winter getaway with your friends.
Taste of Sudbury is held at the Caruso Club and features over 25 unique food and drink vendors from across Northern Ontario. And you’re eating for a great cause – not only to fill your belly but proceeds from the event to Inner City Home’s emergency food bank.
Once you’re in you’ll find a massive event space full of fab food! Wander around and enjoy tasting from the various vendors. When I attended, I tried everything from cocktails to mini sliders and wine to Indian food.
There’s also live music and door prizes. It’s one of the best events in Sudbury for foodies and makes for a fun night out!
