Go Ice Skating
There’s no better way to enjoy winter activities in a city than to go ice skating. Toronto is home to over 100 skating rinks.
Getting active in the winter, especially in February, can be difficult. Toronto in February is bone-chilling cold. A great way to warm up is to lace up your skates and enjoy a spin around the ice.
Some of best places to go skating in Toronto are Nathan Phillips Square, The Bentway, Union Station, and the Harbourfront Centre.
Check Out Bloor Yorkville Icefest
Bloor-Yorkville’s Icefest will wow you with its amazing ice sculptures. Head to the Village of Yorkville Park to check out the main attractions.
Past themes include a hip 1980s theme, where you could find a boombox, leg warmers, and a Back to the Future DeLorean that’s perfect for a photo op.
To warm up grab some Maple Syrup Taffy and play some vintage arcade games at the Icefest Arcade Tent. Donations from these activities go towards the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

A few must-visit museums in Toronto are; the Royal Ontario Museum, the Aga Khan Museum, and the Hockey Hall of Fame.
For those looking for things to do in Toronto for the Family Day weekend, head to the Art Gallery of Ontario. The AGO offers a variety of family-friendly activities and events throughout the weekend.
Tasty Things to do in February in Toronto for Foodies

Grab a Coffee with your Valentine or Friends
Whether you’re single or looking for cozy date ideas for Toronto in February, grab a coffee. Toronto is full of incredible coffee shops, many with fun latte art or cool Instagrammable interiors.
February is the perfect time to visit with loved ones over a warm cup of coffee. One of my favourite coffee shops in Toronto is Fika Cafe. Serving up cozy vibes, great lattes and sweet treats, this Kensington Market gem is great.
Another great place to grab a coffee is Balzac’s. With multiple locations across the city, there’s one near you. My favourite location is the one in the Distillery District.
Attend the Winter Chocolate Show
Ladies, who do you love? Chocolate that’s who! And February in Toronto means The Winter Chocolate Show at the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse.
Held at the beginning of February, this annual festival is full of tasty finds. You’ll learn all about this delicious treat from chocolatiers and fill your belly with all the tasty chocolates. But be sure to buy some for later.

Enjoy an Afternoon Tea
One of the best things to do in February in Toronto for adults is to enjoy an afternoon tea. You’ll find a long list of places across the city that offer tea service. There’s everything from luxury to budget-friendly options.
Kitten and the Bear is one of the best places for afternoon tea in Toronto! This cozy little shop is in the Little Portugal neighbourhood. They sell a variety of incredible preserves, teas, and scones.
You can order one of their afternoon tea boxes that are full of goodies. Each comes with a number of sandwiches, sweets, tea, and one of their amazing scones.
Another one of my favourites is at the Fairmont Royal York! In their Clockwork restaurant. After nearly 100 years of serving afternoon tea, they know what they’re doing!
Clockwork will transport you to the 1920’s with warm hues and plush banquette seating. Afternoon tea is served with classic tiered trays and bone China.
Choose from nearly a dozen loose-leaf teas to pair with your fresh scones, tea sandwiches, and tasty pastries.
Afternoon tea at the Fairmont Royal York are available Saturday and Sundays in February. And they book up fast, so reserve well in advance.

Take a Food Tour of Kensington Market
Another fun foodie experience in Toronto is to take a food tour of Kensington Market. As one of the top neighbourhoods in the city, Kensington is full of amazing places to eat!
This is one of the best food tours in Toronto! Running for approximately 2.5 hours, the tour includes around 6 different tastings and a fabulous guide.
You’ll get to try international cuisine from some of the best Kensington restaurants. Tastings range from Tibetan momos to Jamaican patties. The tour is great for all ages. Plus, it offers vegetarian options too!

Free Things to do in Toronto in February

Visit Allan Gardens
If you’re looking for things to do indoors in Toronto in the winter then head to Allan Gardens. Escape the cold in this wonderful conservatory filled with glorious greenery.
Allan Gardens is on of my favourite hidden gems in Toronto! You’ll instantly warm and be transported to an oasis filled with vibrant coloured flowers and stunning plant life.
During February you can even join one of their classes that range from painting botanical art to designing with branches, wood, foliage, and fruits.
It’s one of many Toronto gardens and parks that are worth exploring.
Catch a Sunset
Add a little romance to your winter with Mother Nature! Catching a sunset is one of the top free things to do in February in Toronto!
It might be cold but winter sunsets are some of the most magical. Plus, you don’t have to wait too late to experience it!
The city offers plenty of places to catch the sunset. One of my favourite Toronto lookouts to enjoy the sunset is Governor’s Bridge Lookout in Evergreen Brickworks.
A few other top sunset spots include Riverdale Park and of course the top of the CN Tower!

Explore Street Art
If you’re looking for places to see in Toronto that are ideal to visit year round then check out the city’s street art! Graffiti Alley is one of the most popular spots to see street art in the city.
But there are a ton of other great alleyways and neighbourhoods to find street art. A few other places to find street art in Toronto include; Underpass Park, Ossington Lane, Leslieville & Riverside, and Kensington Market.
You can even pair your street art exploration with cute coffee shops in the area. Like Fika Café in Kensington Market or Purple Penguin Café in Leslieville.
Take in a Performance at the Canadian Opera Company
A great date night idea is to head to the opera. But did you know that you can go to the opera for free in Toronto?
The Canadian Opera Company runs a free concert series from September to May. Performances are varied and feature everything from opera to jazz.
Performances are held in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. Every week there are between two to three free concerts available.

Fab Festivals in February in Toronto
Toronto Black Film Festival (TBFF)
Did you know there’s a film festival in February in Toronto? In celebration of Black History Month, the Toronto Black Film Festival (TBFF) takes place every February.
Growing out of the Montreal counterpart, the Toronto Black Film Festival has been going strong for over 10 years.
The Toronto Black Film Festival showcases a wide selection of African, Caribbean, African American and Black Canadian films. You can get tickets online, with in-person all access passes for only $149!
Films are shown at various theatres and locations across Toronto.
Individual film tickets and passes are available to purchase 3 weeks before the beginning of the festival.

One of the top winter festivals in Toronto is the Light Festival located in the Distillery District. The Toronto Light Festival is an awesome way to spend a cold February night.
Wander the historic Distillery District and be dazzled by incredible light displays. The creative pieces are created by a variety of international artists. Not only will this festival light up your life but it won’t lighten your wallet since it’s free!

Winterfolk Music Festival
Celebrating live music in Toronto for over 20 years is the Winterfolk Music Festival. It’s held annually downtown every February.
This winter music festival in Toronto brings together the best of blues, rock, jazz, folk, and more. It showcases over 100 artists at five different venues across three days.
Winterfolk Music Festival takes place mid-February in Kensington Market. And a wonderful part about this festival is that it’s run entirely by volunteers. Plus, 80% of the festival revenue goes directly to the artists performing.

Fun Outdoor Things to do in February in Toronto

Go Tobogganing at Riverdale Park
One of the best places in Toronto to toboggan is at Riverdale Park. It’s known for its awesome sunsets and as one of the best views in Toronto. But it’s also home to an epic hill to descend on a toboggan!
If you’re looking for more outdoor activities to do, Riverdale Park East is also home to a skating trail and a hockey pad. So, bundle up, grab a sled and head down the hill!
Wander Winter Stations
Head to the beach in Toronto this February! Bet you didn’t think the beach would make it on a list of things to do in February in Toronto!
The Beaches are transformed into a fun open-air art exhibition. Winners of the Winter Stations International Design Competition get their pieces exhibited.
The Winter Stations can be found along the beach from from Woodbine Beach to Victoria Park.

Go for a Winter Hike
Brave the cold and get out to enjoy a hike in Toronto this winter! Getting outdoors, even in the chillier temperatures, and being active is a must!
So, try one of the many trails in Toronto this winter. One great place to visit year round is High Park. While it’s known as a top spot to see cherry blossoms in Toronto, it’s also home to a range of trails that are perfect for a winter stroll.
Other great trails in the city to check out in the winter are the Beltline Trail and the many ravine trails. Plus, the Beaches boardwalk that’s part of the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail is fun too.
Another great spot for a winter hike in the city is Tommy Thompson Park. This man-made peninsula is a nature lovers paradise in the city. It’s full of trail, wildlife and awesome views of downtown.

Near the end of February every year the Outdoor Adventure Show comes to town! It’s my one of my favourite events and I go nearly every year.
There are countless reasons to attend a travel expo like this! Inspiration, contests, awesome gear and more!
The Outdoor Adventure Show comes at the perfect time. February is one of the darkest and dullest times of year. And the show brings a ton of inspiration on things to do and see!
As Canada’s largest showcase of outdoor gear and adventure travel experiences there’s something to suit everyone’s interests.
Held at the International Centre, the Outdoor Adventure Show boasts over 300 exhibitors. You’ll find a variety of outdoor gear, clothing, and at great prices too. Plus, a climbing wall to test yourself!
The show also hosts a wide assortment of travel destinations eager for you to visit. I love chatting with the people about what makes their destination unique and some of their favourite things to do.
Along with travel destinations, there’s companies selling adventure travel packages. Plus, there are over 100 presentations to educate and help you plan your next adventure.

Pamper Yourself
Enjoying a little self care means something different for everyone. Some love to be spoilt by a spa day or grabbing a manicure, while others love to indulge in some mouth-watering gourmet food.
For me, self care and pampering myself means enjoying a luxury hotel stay, like at One King West! And February is a great time to take advantage of off season rates.
After the rush of the holidays and the build up of the new year, February is a great time to slow down. Consider taking a mediation class in Toronto. Consciousness Explorers Club runs Winter Fire Mediations for a unique experience in Toronto.

Enjoy a Trip to Niagara Falls
Consider taking a day trip or weekend escape to Niagara Falls! If you’re looking for one of the best Ontario winter getaways, other than Toronto, plan a trip to Niagara Falls.
There’s a ton of things going on in the city and area during the winter! Beyond the Clifton Hill attractions and the always popular Niagara Falls, which are even more incredible in winter, there’s a host of events and new attractions.
The Winter Festival of Lights is extended through February! It is the largest outdoor light festival in Canada with millions of lights and incredible illumination displays across the city.
You can also check out one of the city’s newest attractions, Currents, a light show within the old Niagara Parks Power Station. Or, you can pop into one of the many wineries in the area for a little wine tasting.
